I appreciate your quick responses (and indulgence!) ....

I explained the usefulness (to me) in my original post. I have considered 
the limited length of the role field (from much practice with 
DVDProfilerCast). I would say that in the majority of cases I have 
experienced, it has not impacted on the role field (similarly with 
"uncredited", "archival footage" etc). However, if it does, and considering 
you now enable editing of fields before generating the XML, it would be 
easier for the user to handle excess characters than to type in the extra 
"(credit as XXXXXXX)"  or "(uncredited)" characters.
