[DVDFolks] DVDFolks extension

I would certainly enjoy to see this as Firefox extension. Would try to test
it more than the current version...

Personally I will definitely keep using the English version. But apparently
there should be some desire to see translated versions. I could do some
translation to German and if you'd like, I could ask a friend to translate
to Chinese... :D

Subject: [DVDFolks] DVDFolks extension

The title of this mail refers to two seperate, but related items.

The first is that once DVDFolks is functionally complete (apart from the
final step of crew import), I intend to start work on making it into a
Firefox extension. I'm not sure yet exactly how it will work, but this is
something I've wanted to do since 0.1. Developing DVDFolks as an HTA first
though seemed wise, because everyone can run that!

I want to share as much code as possible between the 2 implementations, and
because of this, I need to start abstracting some code - that is instead of
coding 'In a big black font, write this text to the main area of the
screen', I need to have instead 'write this text', which will then be
written in a big black font in the HTA, and perhaps in a status bar for the
Firefox extension.

This leads on to the 2nd item which is that as part of this abstraction, it
would take very little extra work to completely seperate out 'the text' from
'the code'. Seperated text means that making translated versions of DVDFolks
would become *very* easy indeed, and that translations could be reused
between versions. Although it's possible to translate the program now, the
text is tightly woven into the code, and would require starting from scratch
with each new version.

Given that about 50% of DVDFolks downloads are coming from non-English
speaking countries, is this something you would like to see happen? Or are
you all happy using the English version?
